Many of our students receive financial aid such as grants, scholarships, fellowships, or loans.
If you’re interested in applying for financial aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit to the federal processor by March 1 of every year. For additional information on financial aid at Mason, please contact us.

Scholarships
SMSC scholarships are provided through generous donations from Mason alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and students. Private philanthropy enables us to recognize students who show academic achievement, financial need, and unique interests.
Outside scholarships are offered through private agencies and organizations such as high schools, community organizations, scholarship foundations, employers, and government agencies. Criteria for these scholarships generally include academic performance, financial need, being a member of an underrepresented group, volunteerism, heritage, community affiliations, or other factors important to the sponsoring individual or organization. Students are encouraged to apply to as many external scholarships as possible.
Graduate Fellowships
Graduate fellowships provide support to master’s and doctoral students for research, writing, fieldwork, language study, professional development, or independent projects undertaken in conjunction with a degree program.
