Experience

Mike completed his residency in zoo and wildlife nutrition at the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago. Since then, he has been employed by multiple zoos and aquaria around the US.  At the National Zoo, he oversees the commissary operation, clinical nutrition program, nutrition research, and the education and outreach aspects of the Nutrition Science Department, in addition to managing agriculture operations for the zoo facility in Virginia. He chairs the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Nutrition Advisory Group, helped found and serves on the Board of Directors for the Zoo and Wildlife Nutrition Foundation, and advises several Species Survival Plans and Taxon Advisory Group programs within AZA.
