Experience
Dr. Koutsos’ research at UC Davis focused on the interactions between nutrition and the immune system in birds. As an Assistant Professor at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Liz taught nutrition and biochemistry and conducted research in gut health and nutrition. From 2006-2016, she worked with Mazuri Exotic Animal Nutrition, where she focused on R&D, technical services, and business management. Currently, Liz is president of EnviroFlight, the first US commercial producer of dried black soldier fly larvae for animal feed applications. Liz works on projects concerning avian, fish, insect, sea turtle, and elephant nutrition. Outside of science, she likes to garden, read, run, and play with her kids.
