Lauren Hennelly is a NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Copenhagen and a Research Associate at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute. She uses genomic tools to study how divergence, adaptation, and domestication shapes genetic and phenotypic variation in animals. Her work involves building large genomic datasets to investigate phylogenetic relationships among species, genomic diversity, and adaptation across the genome using modern and historical samples. She uses canids as a model system to address evolutionary and conservation questions. Her work directly informs conservation management and efforts for several endangered species.
