Experience
Brian has been a researcher at the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center since 2007, specializing in environment-bird interactions with a focus on the landscape ecology of Greater Washington, D.C. Brian’s research approach integrates field work, citizen science, ecological time-series data, and analytic techniques. He has extensive experience with R programming, spatial analyses, mark-recapture analyses, and niche modeling. His current research projects include avian survival and community composition across the rural-to-urban gradient, the non-breeding distribution of the Rusty blackbird, and spatiotemporal patterns in species richness across systems and taxa.
