George Mason University is pleased to announce Cody W. Edwards as the new dean of the College of Science (COS), effective immediately. Edwards has served as interim dean for COS since July 2024.

In addition to his role as interim dean, Edwards has held numerous leadership positions at George Mason, including executive director of the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation and as COS senior associate dean of academic and faculty affairs. Edwards also serves as associate provost for George Mason’s Institute for Sustainable Earth and is a faculty member in the Department of Biology.
