Taylor Hains is a PhD candidate at the University of Chicago and the Field Museum in the Committee on Evolutionary Biology. He is conducting his dissertation research with Dr. John Bates and Dr. Shannon Hackett on chromosome evolution, hybridization, and conservation genomics of parrots. His work involves generating high-quality assemblies and population genomic data from both fresh and museum samples to understand the mechanisms of speciation and chromosome evolution, as well as how this can be used to aid conservation management efforts.
