Experience

Sarra completed her BSc at the University of Guelph with a minor in Human Nutrition and Nutraceutical Sciences and has been working in the Wildlife Nutrition Centre at the Toronto Zoo since 2012. She began the Toronto Zoo Nutrition Internship in 2013, where she completed her MSc in Animal Biosciences, investigating the physiological effects of consuming apple browse in monogastric herbivores. She has held the Sue Crissey Animal Nutrition Residency Fund (SCARF) Wildlife Nutrition Residency position at the Toronto Zoo since April 2018. This two-year grant position has provided Sarra the opportunity to contribute to nutrition-related research projects, train staff and volunteers, evaluate species’ diets, create new in-house feed items for clinical cases, and assist in commissary management.
