SMSC welcomes Dr. Robyn Puffenbarger, our first Visiting Consortium Scholar!

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Robyn Puffenbarger from Bridgewater College will be our first Visiting Consortium Scholar in Spring 2016. Bridgewater College is a member of the SMSC consortium of schools, and has sent 9 students through the SMSC semester program. Robyn will be on campus 1-2 days per week, and will be working with SMSC faculty and staff to identify areas of collaboration between our organizations.
Dr. Puffenbarger received her B.S. In Biology from Virginia Tech and her Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Immunology from the Medical College of Virginia. She also did postdoctoral research at SUNY Stony Brook. At Bridgewater College, she teaches genetics, biochemistry, immunology, ornithology, and non-majors biology. Her research interests include the molecular biology of gene expression, DNA barcoding, and the impacts of pedagogical strategies on student learning outcomes.
Robyn is an avid bird-watcher, enjoys Frisbee golf, and is a Virginia certified master gardener.
